This project was created during one of those rare moments when I could return home for Lunar New Year after living abroad for so long. It made me question how intimacy is shaped across generations, realizing how little I understood my grandparents' relationships. One couple had an arranged marriage, built on quiet companionship and duty; the other married for love, yet their relationship was filled with intensity and conflict.

Before filming, I interviewed them about their histories—questions we had never spoken about before. Even though I have long known that our views on relationships are worlds apart, their answers, shaped by a different emotional logic, revealed perspectives that felt so distant from my own. The project was filmed in their neighborhood, where I staged a reenactment of their relationships. The still-life photographs capture their belongings—objects that silently hold their shared history.

Through this work, I reflect on the generational differences in love, autonomy, and connection, questioning what is inherited, what is lost, and what remains unspoken.
